1980 Summer Olympics

The 1980 Summer Olympics were held in Moscow, the Soviet Union, and were boycotted by dozens of countries, including the United States, in protest of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, significantly reducing the level of competition in many events. The Games were the first Olympics held in a communist Eastern Bloc country. Some boycotting nations, including Great Britain, sent athletes who competed under the Olympic flag rather than their national flag.
