Motorsport
Motorcycle racing, also called moto racing and motorbike racing, is the motorcycle sport that covers motorcycle road racing and off-road racing, both held either on circuits or on open courses, along with track racing. The Wikipedia lead lists further categories that include hill climbs, drag racing and land speed record trials. The article treats each as its own branch with its own classes: Grand Prix road racing, whose current top class is called MotoGP; motocross, with classes set by engine displacement, age, ability, sidecars, quads and machine age; and vintage racing, where riders race classic motorcycles that can no longer compete with the latest machines. It also describes board track racing, a form popular in the United States in the second and third decades of the twentieth century on oval courses surfaced with wooden planks, which had fallen out of favor by the early 1930s.
