1940s

This dimension places an athlete in the years they were actually competing. Wikipedia notes Pele "began playing for the Brazilian club Santos at age 15" and continued until "after retiring in 1977," a career spanning more than two decades. Browsing by active era sets an athlete alongside the rivals who were competing during the same period.
