Geelong Football Club, nicknamed the Cats, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Geelong, Victoria, and a member of the Australian Football League. The club formed on 13 April 1859, which makes it the second-oldest AFL side after Melbourne and one of the oldest football clubs in the world. It was a foundation member of the Victorian Football Association in 1877 and of the Victorian Football League in 1897, and it won a then-record seven VFA premierships between 1878 and 1886. After a 44-year wait following its sixth VFL premiership in 1963, it won again in 2007 and then in 2009, 2011 and 2022. Its colours are white with navy blue hoops, its home ground is Kardinia Park, and it has fierce rivalries with Hawthorn and Collingwood.
