Greg Williams is a former Australian rules footballer who represented Geelong, the Sydney Swans and Carlton in the Australian Football League during the 1980s and 1990s. Born on 30 September 1963, he was a midfielder, a dual Brownlow Medal winner and at his peak the highest-paid player in the history of the sport. He made his debut in round 1 and amassed 38 disposals, followed his coach Hafey from Geelong to Sydney at the end of 1985, and in 1986 won the Brownlow Medal in a tie with Hawthorn's Robert DiPierdomenico and made the All-Australian team for the first time. He was later traded to Carlton, where he won his second Brownlow. He made his name as one of the best centres in the history of the game and was the most prolific handpasser of his era.
