Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc

Road Races and Marathons

The Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, known as UTMB, is a single-stage mountain ultramarathon of about 170 km with roughly 10,000 m of climbing around Mont Blanc, first held in 2003 and founded by Catherine and Michel Poletti. The route follows the Tour du Mont Blanc through France, Italy and Switzerland, starting and finishing in Chamonix, France. It is the flagship race of UTMB Mont-Blanc, the annual event week held at the end of August, and serves as the 100-mile category Final of the UTMB World Series Finals. Runners must carry mandatory equipment, pacers are not permitted, and running media describe it as one of the most competitive and prestigious trail ultramarathons in the world.
