Zach Miller (runner)

Track and Field Disciplines

Zach Miller is a professional American ultramarathon runner who was born in Kenya to missionary parents and raised mainly in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He ran track, cross country and soccer in high school and continued to run at the Rochester Institute of Technology while studying electrical engineering. After college he worked in the print shop of the Queen Mary 2 cruise ship, training on a treadmill, in stairwells and at ports of call, and after winning the JFK 50 Mile in 2013 with the third fastest time in course history he turned pro. In 2015 he won the 105 kilometre Courmayeur-Champex-Chamonix race of the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, the first American win of that race. After a three-year break to recover from Haglund's syndrome he returned in 2023 and finished second to Jim Walmsley in the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc 105 mile race.
