Club Atletico River Plate is a professional football club based in the Nunez neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina, founded in 1901, and among the most successful clubs in Argentine football history, having won numerous national league championships and multiple Copa Libertadores titles. Playing in white shirts with a broad diagonal red sash, nicknamed "Los Millonarios" for the lavish player signings of its 1930s golden era, the club plays at the Estadio Monumental, the largest football stadium in Argentina and a host venue for the 1978 FIFA World Cup final, and shares the Superclasico rivalry with crosstown rival Boca Juniors.
