North Melbourne Football Club

The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos or colloquially the Roos, is a professional Australian rules football club whose men's team competes in the Australian Football League and whose women's team plays in the AFL Women's competition. It was informally founded in the suburb of North Melbourne in 1858 during the scratch-match era, and its official foundation date of 1869 makes it the fourth-oldest club in the competition. The club has been based at Arden Street Oval since 1882, and its men's team plays home matches at Marvel Stadium in Docklands and at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Its motto is victoria amat curam, Latin for victory demands dedication, and it is unofficially known as the Shinboners. The Kangaroos have won four VFL and AFL premierships, in 1975, 1977, 1996 and 1999, and two AFL Women's premierships, in 2024 and 2025.
