Down county football team

The Down county football team represents Down GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association, in the Gaelic sport of football. It competes in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Ulster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. Its home ground is Páirc Esler in Newry, and the team plays in distinctive red and black. Down won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship five times, in 1960, 1961, 1968, 1991 and 1994, and has lost only one of its six appearances in All-Ireland finals, which gave it a reputation for rising to the big occasion. The team's large following set some of the biggest attendances in GAA history, including a record 90,556 for a game against Offaly in 1961. Down last won the Ulster Championship in 1994, reached the 2010 All-Ireland final, which it lost to Cork by a point, and won the National League in 2026.
