The International Handball Federation (IHF) is the administrative and controlling body for handball and beach handball. Its precursor, the International Amateur Handball Federation (IAHF), was founded in Amsterdam during the 1928 Olympic Games and was dissolved after the Second World War. The IHF itself was founded at a Founding Congress held 10 to 13 July 1946 at the Palace Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, established under the law of Switzerland.
