Night of the Jumps is an international series of freestyle motocross events that tours the world and had been staged in 21 countries by 2015, among them Brazil, Namibia, China and Latvia. The series also carries the official FIM world championship in freestyle motocross. Each event is split into three disciplines, Best Whip, Highest Air and the freestyle motocross contest itself, which makes up most of the show and crowns the rider with the hardest tricks, performed off a take-off ramp and landed on a landing hill. Jumps are often higher than 12 metres and longer than 24 metres, with backflips and many trick variations. Five judges score each run: every jump earns zero to ten points, an extra double-up jump can add up to 20, and separate marks reward use of the track, variation and personal impression; the highest and lowest totals are dropped. In qualifying the best seven jumps in 70 seconds count, and in the final the best nine jumps in 90 seconds. The highest air record stood at 11.50 metres. The German article lists events every year from 2001 in Riesa through 2015.
