Luc Ackermann

Motorsport

Luc Ackermann, born on 6 January 1998 in Mühlhausen, is a German freestyle motocross rider who grew up in Niederdorla in Thuringia. His older brother Hannes introduced him to motocross, but unlike most riders he went straight into freestyle and landed his first backflip on a minibike in 2006. At the age of twelve he set a world record as the youngest rider to show a motorcycle backflip at the Night of the Jumps in Cologne in 2010, and in 2012 he cleared more than nine metres in the Highest Air contest despite a heavy crash that broke his shoulder blade. From 2014 he rode the Night of the Jumps freestyle contest, where he finished runner-up in the 2015 European championship, and in 2014 his fourth place at the Red Bull X-Fighters in Munich was the best result a German rider had achieved in that series. He won the 2018 Night of the Jumps European Championship round in Mannheim, and he is credited with the first double backflip in 2017.
