Sachin Tendulkar is a retired Indian cricketer widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen the sport has produced. He made his Test debut at 16 in 1989 and played international cricket for 24 years, retiring in 2013 as the leading run scorer in both Test and one day international cricket combined and the only player to reach 100 international centuries. He won the 2011 Cricket World Cup with India and became the first sportsperson to receive India's highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna. He later served as a Member of Parliament from 2012 to 2018 and holds an honorary rank of Group Captain in the Indian Air Force.
