Russ Hamilton is an American poker player who won the 1994 World Series of Poker Main Event, defeating Hugh Vincent heads-up for 1,000,000 dollars in first prize plus his bodyweight in silver. He first studied electrical engineering in Michigan, played in underground games in Detroit, and moved to Las Vegas at thirty-six, where he joined a tournament blackjack team and later returned to poker; he also invented the tournament game Elimination Blackjack. After his win he consulted for the online site Ultimate Bet. In 2008 the Kahnawake Gaming Commission found him largely responsible for cheating players on Ultimate Bet out of 6,100,000 dollars through software exposing opponents' hole cards, and in 2009 it raised the estimate to 22,100,000 dollars.
