Rodrigo de Paula Pessoa is a Brazilian equestrian show jumper born November 29, 1972, in Paris, considered one of the most talented riders of his generation. He won the Olympic individual jumping gold medal at the 2004 Athens Games, after an initial silver was upgraded when an Irish competitor was disqualified for doping, and he also won the 1998 World Championship title in the discipline and has earned more than 70 Grand Prix victories. He represented Brazil at eight Olympic Games, second only to Canada's Ian Millar in Olympic appearances by an equestrian.
