Ricky Thomas Ponting is an Australian cricket coach, commentator and former player, born in 1974, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time and is the most successful captain in international cricket history, winning 220 of 324 matches he led for a winning rate of 67.91 percent. He holds the third highest number of centuries in international cricket behind Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, and as captain he won the 2003 and 2007 Cricket World Cups and the 2006 and 2009 Champions Trophies, having also been a member of the 1999 World Cup winning Australian team. He is the only cricketer in history to be involved in 100 Test victories, playing over 160 Tests and 370 One Day Internationals for Australia and its home state of Tasmania.
