Phil Mickelson, born Philip Alfred Mickelson on June 16, 1970, is an American professional golfer who plays in the LIV Golf League after leaving a PGA Tour membership of 30 years in 2022. He has won 45 events on the PGA Tour, including six major championships: the Masters in 2004, 2006 and 2010, the PGA Championship in 2005 and 2021, and the Open Championship in 2013. His 2021 PGA Championship victory, at the age of 50 years, 11 months and 7 days, made him the oldest major champion in history. He is nicknamed Lefty because he plays left-handed, a swing he learned by mirroring his right-handed father even though he is naturally right-handed. He has finished runner-up at the U.S. Open a record six times, the one major he has not won, has spent more than 25 consecutive years in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking, and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2012.
