Why is a ten and a two called the Doyle Brunson hand?
He won the 1976 and 1977 Main Events holding a ten and a two.
Ten-deuce is named after Doyle Brunson because he won the No Limit Hold 'Em event at the World Series of Poker two years in a row, in 1976 and 1977, with a ten and a two. In both cases he completed a full house as an underdog in the final hand. A second holding is also called a Doyle Brunson, especially in Texas: the ace and queen of any suit, because in his words he tries never to play that hand.
