Maverick Viñales Ruiz is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer, born on 12 January 1995 in Figueres, who rides for Red Bull KTM Tech3 in the MotoGP class. He started racing on minimotos at the age of three, became Catalan 125cc champion in 2007 and 2008, and won the 2010 CEV Buckler 125GP title by two points over his teammate Miguel Oliveira. He moved up to the 125cc World Championship in 2011 and won the 2013 Moto3 World Championship. After five seasons as a MotoGP factory rider with Yamaha Factory Racing, his contract was ended by mutual consent midway through 2021. He then raced for Aprilia Racing from 2022 to 2024 before joining Red Bull KTM Tech3 in 2025.
