Koray Aldemir was born in 1990 in Berlin to a family of Turkish descent and later settled in Vienna, Austria. He discovered poker at a friend New Year Eve gathering in 2006 and built his early experience through online freerolls before recording his first live tournament cash in 2012. He established himself in the high roller circuit over the following years, finishing third for 2.1 million dollars at the 2016 World Series of Poker before his breakthrough. In 2021 Aldemir won the World Series of Poker Main Event, defeating George Holmes heads up for an eight million dollar first prize and becoming one of the most successful tournament players from Germany.
