John Cynn, born on December 24, 1984, is an American professional poker player from Northbrook, Illinois. In 2018 he won the World Series of Poker Main Event for $8,800,000, prevailing over a field of 7,874 players, then the second-largest in the history of the series. At the final table he defeated 2009 champion Joe Cada and beat Tony Miles heads-up. He graduated from Indiana University Bloomington, where he studied finance and supply chain management, and worked as an IT consultant in California before turning to poker. His first tournament cash came in 2010, and in 2016 he finished 11th in the Main Event for $650,000. His live tournament winnings exceeded $9.7 million as of 2018.
