Cycling Disciplines

Jamie Staff, born on 30 April 1973, is an English racing cyclist and coach who began on BMX and later moved to the track. His article describes a BMX rider who had won just about everything from the World Championships downwards, and who decided at the end of 2001 that he wanted an Olympic medal; because BMX was not an Olympic sport at the time, he turned to track cycling. At the 2002 Commonwealth Games he won team sprint silver with England and a bronze in the kilometre, and he helped Great Britain win the team sprint gold at the 2002 UCI Track World Championships in Copenhagen, less than a year after taking up track racing. He competed at the 2004 Athens Olympics in the keirin and team sprint without winning a medal, and the lead calls him a World and Olympic champion.
