Jamie Dwyer is an Australian field hockey player born March 12, 1979, in Rockhampton, Queensland, widely considered one of the greatest players ever to play the game. Across 2001 to 2016 he earned more than 365 caps and 244 goals for Australia's national team, winning Olympic gold at the 2004 Athens Games and Olympic bronze at both the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Games, plus Hockey World Cup gold in 2010 and 2014 and silver in 2002 and 2006, along with multiple Champions Trophy and Commonwealth Games titles. He was named FIH World Player of the Year in both 2004 and 2007 and received the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2005.
