Jack Nicklaus

Jack William Nicklaus is an American professional golfer born January 21, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio, nicknamed the Golden Bear and widely considered one of the greatest golfers of all time. He turned professional in 1961 and won 117 professional tournaments including a record 18 major championships, completed his first career grand slam at age 26, and became the first golfer to complete the career grand slam more than once; he won his sixth Masters title, his final major, at age 46 in 1986. He played on five winning Ryder Cup teams and captained the team twice, was named Associated Press Athlete of the Decade for the 1970s, and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974, later receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005 and the Congressional Gold Medal in 2015.
