Ingrid Becker

Ingrid Becker, later known as Ingrid Mickler-Becker, is a West German track and field athlete from Geseke in North Rhine-Westphalia, born on 26 September 1942. She competed at four Olympic Games, in 1960 and 1964 for the mixed German team and in 1968 and 1972 for the West German team. Her best-known result is the pentathlon gold medal at the 1968 Mexico Olympics, and she added a second Olympic gold in 1972 as a member of the world record 4x100 metres relay team. At the European Championships she won gold in the long jump and the 4x100 metres relay in 1971, and she took several German national titles. She was named Sportswoman of the Year in 1968 and 1971. After her athletics career she spent many years with the German Sports Federation and later served as a state secretary in Rhineland-Palatinate.
