Henri Saint Cyr

Henri Julius Reverony Saint Cyr, born March 15, 1902, in Stockholm and died July 27, 1979, in Kristianstad, Sweden, was a Swedish military officer and elite dressage competitor who rode at five consecutive Olympic Games from 1936 to 1960. His most notable achievements came at the 1952 Helsinki and 1956 Stockholm Olympics, where he won individual dressage gold at both Games and also anchored the Swedish team to dressage gold both times, four Olympic golds in all; at his final Olympic appearance in 1960 he finished fourth individually. He was also Sweden's national eventing champion in 1935, 1937 and 1939 and won a world dressage title in 1953, took the Olympic Oath at the 1956 Stockholm Games, and served in the Swedish Army from 1924 to 1957, retiring as a Major with honors including knighthood in the Order of the Sword and the French Legion of Honour.
