Gábor Talmácsi

Motorsport

Gábor Talmácsi is a Hungarian former professional motorcycle racer, born in Budapest on 28 May 1981. He won the 125cc World Championship in 2007 and is the first and only Hungarian to win a road racing world championship. He began on minibikes built by his father at the age of four, also tried boxing, took the Hungarian 125cc national title in 1996 and worked through European and Alps Adriatic racing before entering Grand Prix racing in 2001. A leg injury suffered in 2013 ended his professional career, after which he founded Talmácsi Racing, a team that raced Honda CBR600RR machines in the European Superstock 600 Championship until the series folded at the end of 2015. His younger brother Gergő is also a motorcycle racer.
