Fara Williams, born Fara Tanya Franki Merrett on 25 January 1984, is an English former footballer who played as a midfielder and was known as a consistent goalscorer and set-piece specialist. Her club career began at Chelsea and continued with Charlton Athletic from 2001, Everton from 2004, where she later captained the side and won the Premier League Cup in 2008 and the FA Women's Cup in 2010, then Liverpool from 2012, with whom she won the league title in 2013 and 2014, followed by Arsenal and Reading. She earned 172 caps for the England women's team between her debut in 2001 and her retirement from international football in 2019, making her the most capped player in the team's history, and played at four European Championships and three World Cups. She also featured for Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics, bringing her career total to 177 caps.
