Dan Harrington, born on December 6, 1945, is an American professional poker player best known for winning the Main Event at the 1995 World Series of Poker. In his career he has earned one World Poker Tour title, two World Series of Poker bracelets and more than six million dollars in tournament cashes, and he is a member of the Poker Hall of Fame. He chose his own nickname, Action Dan, even though he is known as a tight and conservative player. He is a distant cousin of the professional golfer Padraig Harrington and of the former National Football League quarterback Joey Harrington.
