Akash Yumnam is an Indian sepak takraw player from Laipham Khunou village near Imphal in Manipur, born in 1996, and the captain of the Indian men's team. He grew up playing football, took up sepak takraw at about the age of eleven when two coaches began training children at the village playground, and spent about a month training with the football club NEROCA.
