Urawa Red Diamonds is a professional football club based in Saitama, Japan, founded in 1950 as the works team of Mitsubishi Motors before becoming a founding member of the professional J.League in 1993, and one of the most successful and best-supported clubs in Japanese football, known for drawing among the largest average attendances in Asian club football at its home stadium, Saitama Stadium 2002. Playing in red shirts, the club has won multiple J.League championships and the AFC Champions League continental title on more than one occasion, and its passionate, vocal supporter culture is frequently cited as distinctive within Japanese football.
