HC CSKA Moscow

HC CSKA Moscow is a professional ice hockey club based in Moscow, Russia, with roots tracing to a Red Army sports society founded in the 1940s, and the most successful club in the history of Soviet and Russian ice hockey, having won a very large number of Soviet League championships during the Cold War era, when the club served as the primary feeder for the dominant Soviet national team. Playing in red, the club continued into the post-Soviet era and became a founding and consistently successful member of the Kontinental Hockey League from its 2008 formation onward, maintaining its historic status as one of the flagship institutions of Russian ice hockey.
