The Halifax Thunderbirds, known colloquially as the T-Birds, are a Canadian professional box lacrosse team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, that plays in the National Lacrosse League and shares Scotiabank Centre with the Halifax Mooseheads. The franchise began play in 1995 as the Rochester Knighthawks in the Major Indoor Lacrosse League era and won five championships between 1997 and 2014. After losing the 2018 NLL finals to the Saskatchewan Rush, the franchise relocated to Halifax and its championships and records transferred with it, while a new expansion team with the Knighthawks name was founded in Rochester that is not a continuation of the original.
