The Cuba national boxing team is one of the most dominant amateur boxing programs in the world, having won a large share of Olympic boxing gold medals for Cuba since the 1970s under the country's state-supported amateur sports system. The program produced legendary boxers who never turned professional, most notably three-time Olympic heavyweight champions Teofilo Stevenson and Felix Savon, and Cuban amateur boxers remain among the most feared opponents in Olympic and World Championship competition.
