USA Swimming is the national governing body for competitive swimming in the United States, founded in 1980 as a successor to the Amateur Athletic Union's swimming committee and headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It selects US teams for the Olympics and World Aquatics Championships and organizes the US Olympic Team Trials in swimming, a program that has produced a long line of the sport's most decorated Olympians, including Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky.
