The South African Football Association (SAFA) is the governing body for association football in South Africa, founded in 1991 through the merger of previously racially segregated football bodies as the apartheid era ended, and headquartered in Johannesburg. It oversees the South African national football teams, known as Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana, and organized the country's hosting of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the first held on the African continent.
