The Japan Football Association (JFA) is the governing body for association football in Japan, founded in 1921 and headquartered in Bunkyo, Tokyo, overseeing a sport that grew rapidly in domestic popularity following the professional J.League's launch in 1993. It governs the Japanese men's and women's national football teams, the latter a FIFA Women's World Cup winner in 2011, and co-hosted the 2002 FIFA World Cup jointly with South Korea.
