Ivan Kizimov

Ivan Kizimov, born May 28, 1928, in Novocherkassk, Russian SFSR, and died September 22, 2019, was a Soviet and Russian dressage rider. His most prestigious achievement came at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, where he won individual dressage gold, and he added team dressage gold at the 1972 Munich Olympics; his Olympic career spanned four Games, 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1976. He also accumulated a strong record at world and European championships, including individual dressage bronze at the 1970 Dressage World Championship, three team medals at world championships (bronze 1966, gold 1970, silver 1974), and eight European Dressage Championship medals in total, five silver and three bronze, establishing him as one of the Soviet Union's most accomplished dressage riders of the Cold War era.
