The Indian Premier League, known as the IPL, is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in India organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. It was founded in 2007 and features ten city-based franchise teams. The league is held annually between March and May and has an exclusive window in the Future Tours Programme of the International Cricket Council, which means fewer international tours take place during its seasons. It is widely regarded as the most commercially successful cricket league in the world, and in 2010 it became the first sporting event to broadcast live on YouTube.
