Zinedine Zidane is a French former professional footballer celebrated as one of the finest midfielders of his era. Playing for Juventus and Real Madrid among other clubs, he combined elegant close control with vision as a playmaker, and captained France to victory at the 1998 World Cup on home soil, scoring twice in the final. His playing career ended memorably at the 2006 World Cup final when he was sent off for a headbutt, and he later became a highly successful manager, leading Real Madrid to consecutive Champions League titles.
