Yoshiharu Habu is a Japanese professional shogi player born September 27, 1970, in Saitama Prefecture, widely regarded as the greatest shogi player in history. In 1996 he became the first and, as of the mid 2020s, only player to hold all seven major shogi titles simultaneously, a feat later termed the Habu Seven Crowns, and over his career he has won more than 100 major titles, a record in the sport. He turned professional at 15 and has remained among the sport's elite players for over three decades, also serving as a prominent public figure for shogi in Japan.
