Willem "Wim" van Hanegem, born on 20 February 1944, is a Dutch former football player and coach who played as a midfielder. In a playing career spanning over twenty years he won several domestic honours in the Netherlands, as well as both the European Cup and the UEFA Cup with Feyenoord, and he was part of the Dutch national team that finished as runners-up at the 1974 FIFA World Cup. He is widely considered one of the greatest Dutch footballers in history and earned the nickname De Kromme, the Crooked One, first for his posture as a consequence of bow legs and later for his trademark bent passes and contrarian commentary. Known for aggressiveness, intelligence and technical playmaking, he was praised by contemporaries such as Johan Cruyff, and Feyenoord named a stand in its stadium after him in 2014. As a manager he won the league and cup with Feyenoord, served as assistant coach of the Dutch national team and last managed FC Utrecht from 2007 to 2008.
