Wellington Jighere is a Nigerian professional Scrabble player born around 1982 in Olomu, Delta State. He won the World Scrabble Championship in 2015, defeating Lewis Mackay four games to nil in the final, becoming the first African player to take the world title. Nicknamed The Cat in the Hat, he began competing in tournament Scrabble in 2002, had earlier placed seventh at the 2007 World Championship, and was honored by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari after his win.
