Vitali Klitschko is a Ukrainian former professional heavyweight boxer born July 19, 1971, in Belovodskoye in what was then the Kirghiz Soviet Socialist Republic, who became a Ukrainian citizen in 1991. He held the WBO heavyweight title from 1999 to 2000 and the WBC heavyweight title twice, from 2004 to 2005 and from 2008 to 2013, along with The Ring magazine championship from 2004 to 2005, successfully defending world titles across 12 title defenses in 15 heavyweight title fights and retiring in December 2013 with a record of 45 wins, 41 by knockout, against only 2 losses, having never been knocked down in his career. Since June 2014 he has served as mayor of Kyiv, becoming an internationally recognized symbol of Ukrainian resistance after Russia's 2022 invasion.
