Venus Williams

Venus Ebony Starr Williams is an American professional tennis player, born in 1980, who has been ranked world number one by the Women's Tennis Association in both singles and doubles and has won 49 WTA Tour level singles titles including seven majors, five at Wimbledon and two at the US Open, along with an Olympic gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Games. Coached alongside her younger sister Serena by their parents Oracene Price and Richard Williams, she reached the singles world number one ranking on February 25, 2002, becoming the first African American woman to do so in the Open Era and only the second woman ever after Althea Gibson. She has also won 22 doubles titles, including 14 majors and three Olympic gold medals, most of them alongside Serena.
