Tostão, born Eduardo Gonçalves de Andrade on 25 January 1947, is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a forward or attacking midfielder and who later worked as a physician. A creative, hardworking and technically gifted left-footed player, he was regarded in the late 1960s as one of the best Brazilians alongside Pelé and was considered by many to be among the best players in the world in the early 1970s, before health problems forced an early retirement. He spent most of his eleven-year career with Cruzeiro. He represented Brazil at two World Cups and won the 1970 tournament, forming a dangerous attacking partnership with Pelé in the national team.
