Tomáš Rosický

Tomáš Rosický, born on 4 October 1980, is a Czech former professional footballer, a midfielder who captained the Czech Republic national team over a ten-year period. He started at his hometown club Sparta Prague, spent three seasons in the Czech First League, and in 2001 moved to Borussia Dortmund for a then record Bundesliga fee of about eight million pounds. In his first German season Dortmund won the league title and reached the 2002 UEFA Cup Final. He joined Arsenal in 2006, made 247 appearances including the 2014 FA Cup Final win, and spent ten Premier League seasons that were interrupted by several long injuries. He debuted for the Czech Republic in 2000, became captain in 2006, played at four UEFA European Championships and the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and won his hundredth cap on 12 June 2015. He later became sports director of Sparta Prague.
