Teimour Radjabov is an Azerbaijani chess grandmaster born March 12, 1987, in Baku, who earned the grandmaster title in March 2001 at age fourteen, then the second-youngest grandmaster in history. In 2003 he became the first player to defeat three former or reigning FIDE World Champions, Garry Kasparov, Viswanathan Anand and Ruslan Ponomariov, with the black pieces in a single year. His rating peaked at 2793 in November 2012, reaching a career-high world ranking of number four, and he won the Chess World Cup in 2019 and the Airthings Masters online rapid event in 2021. He competed in the Candidates Tournament three times, reaching the quarterfinals in 2011, finishing last in 2013 and taking third place in 2022, and is known for reviving the King's Indian Defence as a top-level opening choice.
