Teemu Selanne is a Finnish former professional ice hockey right wing, born July 3, 1970, in Helsinki. He played 21 seasons in the National Hockey League for the Winnipeg Jets, Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks and Colorado Avalanche, becoming the highest scoring Finn in NHL history with 684 goals and 1,457 points. His rookie season with the Jets set an NHL record of 76 goals by a first year player, a mark that still stands. Nicknamed the Finnish Flash, his number 8 was retired by the Ducks and he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2017, the second Finn to be so honored after Jari Kurri.
